My name is Sam Saxton. I’m the president of Salter Spiral Stair one of the leading Spiral Stair manufacturers in the United States based in Pennsylvania. This blog will not just be about spiral stairs though. I hope to write about numerous things that include topics ranging from what it is like to manufacture a product in the U.S. to day to day problems in my personal/professional life. Of course I’ll be posting pictures of some of our favorite projects from customers as well as discussing new ideas.

If you have anything to add please post it or you can always reach me at sam@salterspiralstair.com Thanks.

Beautiful 7′ Round Enclosure Spiral Stair…

Monday, January 12th, 2009

This stair was installed in a home in Ferndale, CA. One of our salsman, Joe Miller, worked with the customer to layout the perfect stair for this home. Here at Salter we specialize in customizing our stair to fit your needs in terms of riser height, entry/exit design, and overall creating the perfect spiral stair…

This particular spiral statistics are:

7 Foot Standard Package with 22.5 degree treads
21 Treads with our heavy duty 3/16″ steel material
63 Round 1″ Center Balusters with custom baluster tips
Continuous sleeves option which hides the center column and welds/hardware
A custom 90 degree curved platform
Powder coated Black
About 20′ of custom round well enclosure rail on top
21 Oak Treads, Oak Platform cover, and round Oak Capping for rails
2 Wooden Oak Posts at end of round rails

In this profile view from the lower level you can see how the design worked perfectly so that the exit from below walks right into the center of the room

In this picture you can see how beautiful the round rail with the oak wood capping, corner posts, and platfrom cover look together. At Salter we can create round rail for any size opening including the matching wood for any design. All our wood is handcrafted by our skilled woodworkers

This final picture is a view from the top of the spiral down. You can really appreciate the craftmanship of how well the balusters join the one piece wood handrail directly into the wood tread covers for a beautiful look with no seams, breaks, etc
