The Classic Steel Stair with Refined Beauty

SalterSpiralStair.com specializes in manufacturing pre-engineered spiral stair kits with all of the features of an expensive custom stairs. We sell our stairs direct to builders, architects and do-it-yourselfers. The stairs are shipped directly from our plant in Pennsylvania and are delivered to your job site. After the stair parts are manufactured, all the individual components are packaged and given to a freight company, for delivery. The advantage of a pre-engineered kit is that it is economical to deliver and it can be carried into the home in manageable size pieces. Stock adjustable stairs are available or we offer stairs with continuous sleeves that are built to your height. This type of stair is ideal for new construction and renovation. The stairs have been designed so a do-it-yourselfer or carpenter, with no special tools or skills, can assemble it. Choose A Stair Design From The Following Options:

Tread Style

Standard (CT-1) steel tread with closed end. Holes are pre-punched so the tread can receive optional wood tread coverings.

Curved up (CTC-2) steel tread with closed end. Provides that thin look. Holes are
pre-punched so the tread can receive
optional wood tread coverings.

Long curved (CT-4) steel tread with closed ends. Holes are pre-punched so the tread can receive optional wood tread coverings.

Ivy stencil (CT-5) steel tread with closed ends. Holes are pre-punched so the tread can receive optional wood tread coverings.

Code riser (CT-6) steel tread with closed ends.Code risers will maintain a space less then 4" between treads. Holes are pre-punched so the tread can receive optional wood tread coverings.

Grated (CT-8) steel tread with closed end. Grated treads allows water, ice and snow to fall through the tread, whiling providing a unique open feel. Also available in a 3/16” thick heavy-gauge version. (Not available in a diamond pattern)

Industrial Heavy-Gauge 3/16” (CT-9) steel tread with rounded closed end. These treads are made with extra thick steel plates for usages which require additional strength.

	Tread Coverings
(click to enlarge)	Diamond Pattern (CTC-1) steel tread provides a non-skid surface. (Diamond pattern on tread top only). Solid Wood (CTC-2) tread covers in 11/16› or 1 3/4" finished thickness. Treads are nosed and sanded to a fine finish. Oak, maple, cherry, mahogany, and cedar are stock woods with additional species available upon request. Flakeboard (CTC-3) tread covers in 3/4” thickness, ready to accept carpeting. (Carpeting not included). Industrial Heavy-Gauge Diamond Pattern (CTC-4) 3/16” steel tread provides a non-skid surface. (Diamond pattern surround on tread top and side).

Tread Sleeves

Standard sleeves (CTS-1) . The treads slide up and down on the center column. Each set of treads will fit a wide range of floor to floor heights.

Continuous sleeves (CTS-2). Are custom cut to your riser height. This feature provides a smooth center column appearance. (Please furnish your exact
floor to floor height.)

Handrails
Standard black vinyl (CH-1) handrail - 1 1/2" O.D. with end caps.

Pre-formed aluminum (CH-2) handrail -1 1/2" O.D. with dome end caps. This handrail may be left in it's natural aluminum finish or painted the same color as the stair.

Pre-formed solid polished brass (CH-3) handrail -
1 1/2" O.D. with dome end caps.

Solid Wood (CH-4) handrails.All wooden handrails are manufactured to your individual specifications and shipped in one piece. (Oak, Maple, Cherry, Mahogany, Cedar are stock woods with additional species available upon request.)

Standard Shape (CH-4A) handrail - 2" tall.

Standard Shape (CH-4B) handrail - 3" tall.

Well Enclosure Rails

Another consideration when purchasing a stair is the enclosure railing. This railing is intended to protect people from falling off a balcony or through a stair well. Although you may choose a stair with a wide baluster spacing, the balusters on the enclosure railing are spaced at 4" or less, which is what the national building code requires.
